Because You Like It
I once held your beauty as something so pure
Your eyes had such sparkle and your skin was so pure.
After all of the years that you travelled in circles
It ended with me, the time was to see.
I had to look close at this thing you called flesh
But the more that I noticed, the more vile you grew
Your skin isn’t smooth, it’s full of old scales
Green, brown and rotten as they slide down your arms.
The whites of your eyes are now yellow and faded
The pink of your lips lies in cracks and broke lines
The nose once defined, is battered inside
A fragment of truth expressed on your face
You’re a hole for abuse and you like it that way.
Every creviss of you and your intimate self
Can be and has been, sold off for spares.
Anyone welcome no matter their dirt
They can push up inside you for the cheapest of fares.
A fix and a hit, or a smoke and a toke
As long as there’s someone to hold you together.
Street lights should warn you that this road is to hell
But you carry on walking, stepping over friends’ bones
Laughing and skipping in this void you created
It’s full of fake sex, the white of your drugs
And the white of this hatred.
Empty of love?
Broken inside?
Abused and destroyed by others around?
All just excusees. All just a reason to feed their attentions.
All just reminds us of the filth that you laid out
Lies to disguise the one simple fact…
You live this way because you like it.
